Mark of the Devil 666: The Moralist

Wow! This was not at all what I expected. And not in a good way. It's a camcorder movie from the mid-90s that follows a plot similar to Scream, but it actually came first. A killer stalks victims he thinks are evil to society, and copies the deaths from popular b-movies. So there's admittedly some fun there. If you love seeing what a mom and pop video store looked like there are many scenes of that included. The problem with it is that it's neither gory nor scary and takes a REALLY long time to get to where it's going. The acting is decent. The mystery is OK. The gore is not. The lead up to the climax is kinda suspenseful. There's just a lot of tightening in the edit needed. All that said, there's a new sequel to this film made 25 years later that reunites this cast and also touches on the original film. It's Mark of the Devil 777: The Moralist, Part 2 that's significantly better.
